Crazy Creek Chairs

Straight from Red Lodge, MT we received two Crazy Creek Original Chairs to serve as both our sleeping pads and comfortable seats in camp. Turns out we used them for much, much more. Though we didn't use them as kayak seats (which was the plan with our Skin On Frame kayaks) one of our favorite alternate uses was on wind bound days in the surf as body boards.

By also using them as sleeping pads we were able to downsize our packing a bit without losing the insulation. And be it medium cobbles, sharp rock, sand, or grass they are darn comfortable for sitting on all types ground. We are very appreciative to Crazy Creek for sponsoring us.

Thank You Crazy Creek!

Lake Superior Kayak Kolsch

October, 26, 2010

On the 97th and final day of our journey we followed the 8 mile length of Park Point in what was truly our homestretch. To our joy, friends joined us for those last few miles to help us bring it home. We picked them up as we went along, literally from the very tip of the sand spit all the way to the Lift Bridge until we were just shy of a dozen kayakers. It was a beautiful Duluth day and very special to us to have a circle of friends along on our last paddle.
One of the first to join our flotilla was Dale, Operator of Lake Superior Brewing Company right there in Duluth, MN. Not only did he share the day on the water but when we finally did land at the beach he popped his trunk and shared with us one of our favorite beverages.

What beer could be more appropriate for a group of paddlers who love to celebrate a worthy achievement than the aptly named Kayak Kolsch? Nothing, in our opinion.

Thanks to Dale and Lake Superior Brewing Company in Duluth for sponsoring our Superior Dream! You'll be happy to know you can find it bottled and on tap all over Minnesota, and when you do be sure to tell them thanks for having it.

Thanks Olypmic Granola!

Just when we noticed the leaves starting to change, the air and the Lake getting colder, and our taste buds getting bored we still had another month to paddle. To help us finish strong Olympic Granola sponsored our expedition with all 8 varieties of their tasty granola bars.

With truly natural ingredients they helped us continue to get the calories we needed while allowing us to snack easily and frequently while paddling. Because of this we were able to put on more miles while keeping our weight and strength up.

Besides being delicious, full of goodness, and a great packing size?? They're a Minnesota company!! Right on.

Thanks Olympic Granola for helping us complete our journey!

Keep Superior Fresh!

May 29, 2010

A Huge Thanks to Devin and Elli for sending us some new wear.  Our favorite is the shirt with the phrase "Keep Superior Fresh" on it, Brought to You by the People at Plant Trees. We couldn't agree more!

Plant Trees is a business that was started by a Graphic Design graduate from the University of Minnesota.  The company is still in its infancy so spread the word: Plant Trees Clothing Duluth, MN!

Thanks D for helping keep us covered in meaningful and stylish threads.  And those Paty shirts will be great for paddling on the sunny days!

Thanks Evergreen Press!

May 18, 2010

We owe a huge thanks to Rhonda at Evergreen Press for doing an excellent job printing our business cards.
The cards were designed by Karl Engebretson and once we got that template into Rhonda's hands she worked with us to get the best looking final product printed.  We are so impressed with how they turned out, as are the folks we've already handed them out to.

From the moment we approached her for support she was on board and as my "hometown" printing place in downtown White Bear Lake, only blocks from where my parents live, it feels great to have that connection.  If you live in the neighborhood of WBL and need anything printed, we highly recommend her.

Thanks Rhonda and Evergreen Press, it means a lot to have you with us.  We're very grateful for your professionalism and generosity, you did a fantastic job!

Jetboil Cooking Systems

March 31, 2010
We are extremely pleased to announce Jetboil as one of our official sponsors. During early wake-ups and at days end after some long hours in a kayak, not much sounds better than a hot drink or a warm meal.  A reliable, efficient and easy to use stove is a must which is why we're darn glad to know that a Jetboil Group Cooking System will be with us on our trip.

Thank You Jetboil for Sponsoring Superior Dream!

Adventure Medical Kits

March 30, 2010
While planning for this voyage, we go through a lot of "what if's?" in our head.  Everything from the simple "what if it rains?" to the more complex "what if we can't fit all the food?"  But none more important than "what if we get injured or have a medical emergency?"

That's why we are excited to announce Adventure Medical Kits as an official Superior Dream Sponsor!  Their first aid kits are comprehensive and well-suited for our trip and they will be a trusted resource should we need it.

Thanks Adventure Medical Kits!
