As cold temps have just arrived here in MN, ice barely covers most lakes in the twin cities metro area. I took the opportunity to get out and paddle a cold absorbing aluminum canoe on White Bear Lake yesterday in what might be my last chance of the year.
It was fantastically cold and I had the lake all to myself! No surprise there.
Afterwards I practiced some of my growing skills with Google Earth and mapped out my route from the day. I have been working with this program with the idea that it will serve as our primary mapping for much of Superior Dreams. I got the idea from a few other adventurers and its use (and my ability to work with it) looks promising.

This is a screen shot of what I came up with. The cool part is that as I produce various practice maps, I see what I like and what I want to change for the next one.
Think Snow!!
